The Benefits of Scheduling a Regular Weekly Tutoring Session

  • A convenient time for your schedule is reserved for your child every week
  • Any and all difficult concepts are tackled weekly, rather than the night before an exam
  • Any incorrect assumptions are corrected rather than reinforced
  • Concepts are solidified weekly to gain confidence and enhance retention
  • Test prep and review is more tailored to your student’s needs

One-on-One Tutoring

  • My undivided attention and focus is on your child
  • Pacing is adapted purely for your child (if a child needs extra time on a concept, we can slow down and unpack it further. Similarly, if your child grasps a certain concept, we can move on to the next concept and/or focus on more challenging problems)
  • Students do not lose focus when it is one on one (as sometimes happens in a small group)
  • Students do not face peer pressure during a one-on-one session (students who struggle with low self-esteem concerning math really benefit from one-on-one sessions – no embarrassment with asking questions)

Small Group Tutoring

I will tutor up to 3 students from the same math class in one session.

The pros of small group tutoring:

  • It can be more economical
  • Peers help peers
  • More students are helped in less time

The drawbacks of small group tutoring:

  • If the students learn at different paces or are confused on different concepts – it can be frustrating for each student
  • If one of the students in the small group feels uncomfortable speaking up in front of peers, the tutoring session is not as beneficial

Thus, I would say if your child and one or two other classmates feel comfortable asking questions and speaking up when an explanation doesn’t “click” for them, then a small group could be beneficial.

Tutoring Rates

One-on-One Tutoring = $50.00 / hour

Weekly Scheduled Tutoring = $40.00 / hour

Small Group Tutoring = $60.00 / hour (divided evenly between 2-3 students)
